Dark Peak, Peak District, Derbyshire

I've spent a few days here and there walking in the Dark Peak area of Derbyshire. I've mostly been around Edale, including Mam Tor, but also paid a visit to Stanage Edge last Autumn.

I've had variable weather for my visits (one epic day me and a frien got about 100m up from Edale towards Mam Tor before it tipped it down, causing us to retire to the pub for the day) but the pics opposite result from sunny days, when the area does look better. You still get a howling gale at the top of Mam Tor mind you, whatever the weather.

Must say the Hope Valley Railway between Manchester and Sheffield is extremely handy for visits to the Dark Peak.
