My Cameras, lenses and other bits
There's been some more big changes around here recently. Those who have read this before will know that I won a Samsung GX10 DSLR in a competition in February 2008 (see previous 'Whats New' entries). This is a 10MP camera and is weather sealed. Does the job very well. Or rather it did; someone's half inched it - sob. They also took everything else in my kit bag which included my poshest lens, flash and filter paraphernalia.
So we've been shopping with the insurance money and I now have a Samsung GX20 with 14.6 shiny megapixels. I've also got a new standard zoom, see the list below, and have replaced my flash. Luckily no other lenses were taken, it would have been a nightmare to replace all the vintage Pentaxes.
My main set-up used to be an Olympus E500 with a number of lenses. I have now sold all this and have invested the cash in a whole range of new lenses for the Samsung (ok, most were second hand but new to me). The list is as follows;
Pentax M 28mm f2.8
Pentax M 50mm f1.4
Pentax M 100mm f2.8
Pentax K 200mm f4
Pentax A 70-210mm f/4
Tamron 90mm f2.8 macro
Samsung 10-17mm f3.5-4.5 fisheye
Sigma 10-20mm f4-5.6 EX
Tamron SP 17-50mm f2.8
Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6
Sigma 600mm f8 mirror lens
Lensbaby 2.0
Samsung SPF36 flash
I've also got a little Fujifilm f31fd compact camera which I bought to carry around with me just to take snaps. However initial results suggest that this camera is really very good especially for the price.
Lastly, I still own a compact Kodak DX6490 which was my first 'proper' camera. I got it in August 2005 and it is currently on loan to my niece.
Other stuff; I use a Manfrotto tripod, Lowe Pro and Crumpler camera bags and Photoshop Elements 4 (with a bunch of plug-ins), Samsung's version of Silkypix RAW converter and occasionally Photomatix for the processing. Motley collection of memory cards, xD for the Fujifilm, SD for the Samsung and Kodak. I've yet to replace all of my filter kit, so far I've just got a standard holder, adapter ring for the Tamron 17-50mm and a ND8 neutral density graduated filter, hope to sort some other stiff soon.
